Yosemite
Watersongs

Watersongs opens with Bridalveil Fall photographed in late spring, appearing light and wispy and seems to be falling in slow motion, due to the effects of the wind. Bridalveil and the sequence at Vernal Fall were photographed backlit to highlight the mist against the dark rocks. The first segment closes with a sequence of dogwood blossoms contrasted against the rushing Merced River.

The second segment begins with a moody sunset at Valley View, followed by a series of sunrise shots of the Merced River and flooded Liedig Meadow shot during a heavy spring run-off. Following is Yosemite Falls, from which sunrise light is manifesting a misty, swirling rainbow displayed against dark rocks. The segment closes with backlit shots from the base of Lower Yosemite Falls (looking east).

In the third segment the tempo changes as we see shots of the flooded Merced River, near Cascade Falls, as we move to the high country with a sequences of back-lit white water, featuring the Dana Fork of the Tuolumne River and Tuolumne Fall. The segment closes with sunrise and sunset shots of Waterwheel Falls in the Grand Canyon of The Tuolumne.

Segment four begins with shots of El Capitan at sunset reflected in the Merced River, photographed near Valley View, and dissolves into the orange-red glow of the setting sun on frothy Horsetail Fall. Following are shots of flowers along the Merced River, dissolving to trees as their glorious fall colors dissolve into a winter sunrise, with steam coming off the river after a fresh snowfall. The segment closes with a variety of winter shots along the Merced River, and a shot of Half Dome reflected in a winter pond in Cook Meadow.

Segment five starts with a transition to Spring with a dissolve to spring flowers in Cook Meadow, followed by various wildflowers shot on the rim of Yosemite Valley and the surrounding high country of Yosemite National Park. The scene ends with Indian Paint Brush photographed at Emerick Lake. Shots in Toulumne Meadows are followed by a succession of spring flowers, with the Merced River and Yosemite Falls as background.

The last segment begins with a frosty sunrise at Emerick Lake, the morning sun brilliant in the background, dissolving to Mount Dana reflected in the pond at the Tioga entrance. A series of shots in Tuolumne Meadows are followed by the Lyle Fork of the Toulumne photographed in Lyle Canyon at sunrise.

Spring is introduced with reflections of trees surrounding the Merced River, and reflections of Half Dome in Liedeg Meadow and Cathedral Rocks. Following are sunrise shots of the rushing Merced River at Fern Spring, dissolving to white water in Merced Canyon and Upper Cascade Creek. Dissolving again to winter with frozen trees and rushing, icy waters, we arrive at a herd of deer, foraging for food in the snowy wonderland of the oak grove at the edge of Cook Meadow. Dissolving to a shot of Bridalveil Fall through snowy branches, a storm clearing in the Valley is photographed from the Wawona Tunnel view, pulling back to a wide shot of the clearing storm. This scene dissolves to Yosemite Falls through snowy trees, then to the reflection shots in the Merced River of the falls, as the camera catches ice in the act of falling from the granite wall. A montage of water shots precede stark white Bridalveil Fall, then we dissolve to Ribbon Fall, photographed in early spring in late afternoon.

A view of Horsetail Falls precedes the closing shot of Yosemite Watersongs, a quiet reflection of Cathedral Rock in a pond in Cook Meadow.
